          Investigation and     Experimentation

      Unit 1 focuses on the key components in conducting a great experiment. From Investigating and Experimentation unit one focuses on all parts of an experiment. During this unit we learned everything from how to write a well-written hypothesis to writing a good conclusion. Unit 1 helped us prepare for upcoming experiments and projects like our Science Fair Project.

8th Grade Science Standards Covered:

Scientific preogress is made by asking meaningful questions and conducting careful investigations. As a basis for understanding this concept and adressing the content in the other three strands, students should develop their own questions and preform investigations. Students Will:

a. Plan and conduct ascientific investigationto test a hypothesis.

b. Evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of data.

c. Distinguish between variable and controlled parameters in a test.

d. Construct appropriate graphs from data and develop quantitive statements about relationships between variables.
